Nails Inc Bright ambition

Today were taking a closer look at Nails Inc’s Bright ambition collection. The collection consists of four polishes, three neons and one white. The polishes arrived just in time for my summer vacation, and they are p e r f e c t for this beautiful weather we’re having.

My swatches are painted over one coat of base coat (no top coat), and I applied the neons over one coat of White out to make them pop!

White out is a white creme polish that covers in just one coat!

Not invited is a neon blue creme polish, here I’m wearing one coat over a white base.

Aaaah, now isn’t this a nice bright summery collage! Which polish is your favorite? I love them all and I’m especially impressed with White out since it’s the perfect white polish!

I also did some nail art with the neons from this collection, and it turned out so bright you might need sunglasses to look at it! To get the cells I used a special polish called Spot it from Dance Legend.

Twinkled T Desert sunset

Recently Twinkled T released their latest stamping polish collection called Desert sunset.

When their polishes finally was able for purchase from an European distributor they had released 12 shades and I was in need of some new stamping polishes so I bought them all! I knew it was a bit of a risk buying that many at once without testing a few at first, but I had read great reviews. They were as good as I was hoping and I’ve loved Twinkled T’s stamping polishes since the first time I tried them!

With that said, I’m always excited when they release new shades! The new Desert sunset collection consist of four creme and two metallic polishes.

On my pictures I’ve swatches the polishes on their own and stamped over black and white. I used Twinkled T’s stainless steel stamper and UberChic Beauty’s Got chevron? 2 plate for the stamping.

Ghosted is a light grey creme polish that covers in one coat. As you can see it’s stamps really week both over black and white.

20180722_152759874_iOS

Coraline is a light coral creme polish that covers in one coat. It covers really well over both black and white, but over black it’s not as bright as it is over white or on its own.

20180722_152946218_iOS

Tickled is a pink creme polish that covers in one coat. It stamps well over both black and white.

20180722_153207763_iOS

Smokey is a dark grey creme polish that covers in one coat. It’s stamps really well over both black and white.

20180722_153354845_iOS

Dazed is a rose gold metallic polish that covers in one coat. It stamps well both over black and white, but over black it’s turns out more silver compared to it over white or on its own.

20180722_153631894_iOS

Liquid gold is a gold metallic polish that covers in one coat. It stamps very well both over black and white.

20180722_154147020_iOS

The polishes from the Desert sunset collection is just as good as their other stamping polishes (which is just what I expected!). All six polishes are beautiful but if I had to pick favorites I would chose Coraline and Tickled, they look just as good stamped as on their own!

Have you tried any of Twinkled T’s stamping polishes?

Whats up nails Alchemy powder

Hi guys, how are you? I haven’t been very active here lately, but I’ve just been so busy with work.

To compensate for my absence I have something really cool to show you today, chrome nail powder! You may have seen these powders all over Instagram last year. When they hit the market we were told that you could only use them with gel polish, otherwise the chrome finish would be ruined. I have used gel polish previously, but I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to it, and I wouldn’t want to risk the health of my nails by trying it again. But recently I learned that the powders work with regular polish too, just as long as you use them with a water based top coat.

IMG_3348

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Lena from Whats up nails, asking if I wanted to try some of their new products (of course I said yes!). One of the things I got was the Alchemy Powder, and obviously I had to try it immediately!

IMG_3347

Isn’t the result just magical!? I could stare at my nails for days!

Here’s how I applied the powder using regular polish:

1. Apply a base coat. I used Ridge filler from Essie to get a smooth surface. I know from experience that any imperfections will show up when you use chrome polishes.

2. Paint your nails with a black polish. Black is what Whats up nails recommend, but other colors will work too, though I think the result won’t be as intense over a lighter polish. I painted my nails with two coats of Lady in black from OPI.

3. Apply a top coat. I used Gel Setter from Essie to get a smooth and glossy finish.

This step is not necessary, you can skip it. I used top coat to get smooth surface but applying one more coat of polish also increases the drying time.

4. To protect the skin around my nails I used Cuticle protectors from Born Pretty Store.

5. After letting the top coat dry for approximately 2-3 minutes (just so it’s dry to the touch) I started applying the powder, and a little goes a long way!! You don’t need much powder at all, so make sure that you don’t use too much.

6. Gently buff the powder on your nails using your finger. The more you buff, the better it looks, so give it some time.

7. When I was happy with the result I took a fan brush and gently swept it over the nails to remove any leftover powder.

8. Time for top coat! This is the step where it all can go wrong, so make sure that you use a water based top coat, otherwise the mirror finish will be ruined. I used Secret top/base coat from Little Ondine.

IMG_3351

The wear time when you use powders with regular polish is not that long, but I don’t mind since I change my nails almost every day anyway. I will continue experimenting with powders and see what combination will work best for me!

What do you think of this duo chrome look? And have you tired any powders?

Beauty by Ellos

A couple of days ago I posted swatches of some polishes from Yves Rocher and I got these polished from Ellos at the same time, so it was about time that I tried them. I think that Ellos has had their own beauty line for about a year now and these are the first products that I have tried.

img_5395

All swatches are painted over one coat of base coat and topped with one coat of Plumping top coat or one coat of Matte top coat, both from Ellos.

Pink orchid is a pink creme polish that covers in two coats. I love the way this polish looks matte!

img_5588Ellos – Champagne chic chevy

Champagne chic chevy is a bronze metallic polish that covers in two coats. It’s pretty streaky and on the nails it looks like a nude metallic shade. Not a big fan of this polish.

Absolutely red is a bright red creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_5614-1Ellos – Red red wine

Red red wine is a dark red creme polish that covers in two coats. This is probably my favorite shade out of these four and I think it looks amazing both glossy and matte.

img_5615

The polishes retail for 39 kr, which is a really good price since they contain 11 ml. They have a thin brush, but it’s still pretty easy to work with. I have to say that I’m most impressed with the top coats. The plumping top coat feels a bit thicker than a regular top coat, but it’s still easy to apply. It gives a lovely shine and it dries pretty fast. I really like the matte top coat too, I’ve tried matte top coats that cost way more money than this one that are way worse.

H&M Beauty

Last fall H&M released their new beauty line and I have tried a few of their polishes.

img_9213H&M – Space Race

Space Race is a silver linear holo polish that covers in two coats. It dries a bit dull, so make sure to add a glossy top coat.

img_9214H&M – Yolo Holo

Yolo Holo is a very sheer pearl polish, here I’m wearing three coats. It is best suited as a topper. I think the name is a bit confusing since this is not a holo polish.

img_9215H&M – Fairie Holo

Fairie Holo is a gold holo glitter polish. My nails looked like disco ball with this polish on. Here I’m wearing three sponged coats over one painted coat.

img_9216H&M – Undersea

Undersea is a blue metallic polish that covers in two coats.

img_9217H&M – Parisienne

Parisienne is a bright red polish, here I’m wearing three coats and as you can see I still have a bit of VNL.

Over all I’m pretty impressed with the polishes from H&M. They have a brush that is easy to work with and the formula was good. And they are pretty cheap, 49 kr each (though I got a few on sale for 10kr each!!!). Out of these polishes Space Race is definitely my favorite!

Have you tried any polishes from H&M? Did you like them?

Rituals nail polish

Rituals is my favorite body care brand, so far I’ve loved everything I’ve tired from them. So when I found out that they have makeup too I was intrigued. Did you know that they have makeup as well?

img_6385

I have a few polishes from Rituals to show you today, one neutral shade, two bright shades and two darker shades.

img_6395Rituals – Light pink

Light pink is a very sheer pale pink polish. I used three coats here but as you see I still have a lot of VNL*, way too much for my taste. I think this polish would be perfect as the base for a French manicure, or by itself if you have shorter nails.

img_6397Rituals – Light turquoise

Light turquoise is a mint creme polish that covers really good in one coat, but you know me, I always use two coats to get a more intense color. I really like this polish and I think it is the perfect color for spring and summer. I just wonder why they named it Light turquoise since it is mint colored.

img_6399Rituals – Light peach

Light peach is a peach-y coral creme polish that covers in two to three coats. I love this color so so much, it is the perfect summer shade!

img_6401Rituals – Grey blue

Grey blue is a grey-ish creme polish that is almost a one coater, however I used two coats.

img_6403Rituals  – Dark grey

Dark grey is a brown creme polish that covers in two coats. I’m a bit confused here, it is called Dark grey, but it is a brown polish. Anyway, it is a beautiful autumn shade.

All polishes have a really good formula that is easy to apply. I really liked the brush, it is just the right size, not too skinny and not too wide. All swatches are all painted over one coat of base coat and are without top coat.

img_6390

While I swatched these polishes I had my Sweet Sunrise scented candle from Rituals next to me, I’m so obsessed with it! It smells lovely and it’s beautiful when it’s lit up (then you see the quote “What’s meant to be, will always find a way” which is not visible otherwise).
