Holo jelly gradient

Hi guys! Did you know that today is National nail polish day? Well, for me every day is nail polish day. But it’s still a fun occation, don’t you think?

Today I have some bright, sparkly and super glossy nails to share with you! I’m so happy with how they turned out so I’m actually gonna be a little sad when I have to remove them.

IMG_7581

I started by painting my nails with Mega (X) from ILNP which is a silver holographic polish. Then I sponged on the gradient using the Color Paints from OPI (Landscape artist, Primarily yellow, Chromatic orange, Magenta muse and Purple perspective). Lastly I stamped a floral pattern over the gradient using stamping plate 9-03 from ÜberChic beauty and Midnight mischief from Painted Polish (which is THE best black stamping polish!).

IMG_7580

Here is how the gradient looked before I added the stamping. It’s really pretty, but I like it so much more with the stamping on top. Which version do you like the most?

How are you celebrating national nail polish day? I’m going to celebrate by taking these off (😢) and paint some new nails!

OPI California dreaming | comparisons

As I mentioned earlier this week here are my comparison swatches of the shades from the California dreaming collection (except for Don’t take Yosemite for granite that I didn’t have anything similar to). I took out the shades that I thought would be the most similar from my OPI collection. If you’re wondering about a specific polish that I haven’t compared it too, either I don’t have it or they were not similar enough.

IMG_6816

Excuse me, big sur! – Humidi-tea

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They look pretty similar if you compare the bottles (except that Humidi-tea has shimmer in it) but they’re not that similar on the nails.

IMG_6817

Barking up the wrong Sequoia – A great opera-tunity

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They are almost dupes, Barking up the wrong Sequoia is just a little bit lighter than A great opera-tunity, but they’re similar enough to not need both.

IMG_6619

IMG_6820

Santa Monica beach peach – Can’t afjord not to – Hot & spicy

Here I’m wearing two coats of each polish. Even though they looked pretty similar in the bottles they are not on the nails.

IMG_6797

IMG_6823

Malibu pier pressure – Kiss me I’m Brazilian – Flip flops & crop tops – Suzi nails New Orleans

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. Kiss me I’m Brazilian and Flip flops & crop tops are almost identical to Malibu pier pressure, so it’s not a vey unique shade of pink.

IMG_6799

IMG_6826

Time for a Napa – SPF XXX – Got myself into a Jam-balaya – Toucan do it if you try

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. The shades are similar, but not at all dupes.

IMG_6801

IMG_6829

Feeling frisco – Don’t pretzel my buttons – Pale to the chief – Samoan sand

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade except for Samoan sand which I’m wearing three coats of. They’re all very similar, and closest to a dupe is Pale to the chief.

IMG_6805

IMG_6832

GPS I love you – Apartment for two – Mad for madness sake – Don’t know… beets me!

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. This seems to be a very popular OPI shade, since I have four almost identical shades…

IMG_6803

IMG_6835

Me, myselfie & I – Aloha from OPI – Living on the bula-vard! – Live.Love.Carnaval

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. I’d say that Me, myselfie & I and Aloha from OPI are pretty much dupes to Living on the bula-vard!

IMG_6807

IMG_6838

This is not whine country – Too hot pink to hold ’em – Madam President – Koala bear-y

Here I’m wearing two coats of Madam President and Koala bear-y, three coats of This is not whine country and four coats of Too hot pink to hold ’em. I was pretty sure that id have at least one dupe for This is not whine country, but it turns out I was wrong.

IMG_6809

IMG_6841

To the mouse house we go – Big apple red – Having a big head day – The thrill of Brazil

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade except for To the mouse house we go which I’m wearing three coats of. To the mouse house we go is a jelly and is much brighter than the other shades.

IMG_6811

IMG_6844

Sweet Carmel Sunday – Worth a pretty penne – Brisbane bronze

Here I’m wearing two coats of each polish. Worth a pretty penne has almost the same shade as Sweet Carmel Sunday, but they have different finishes so they’re not dupes.

I hope these swatches helped you in your decision of which shades to get. Please let me know in the comments which ones you’re planning on getting and which ones you’ll skip out on (and why)!

OPI California dreaming

Hi everybody! Today I have swatches of OPI’s new collection California dreaming to share with you. At first glance I wasn’t that interested in this collection, I thought many of the shades looked too similar. But after trying them all I have to say that I’ve changed my mind. Though I think it would’ve been nice to see some other colors in the collection, like green, blue or purple.

Let’s take a look at the swatches! All swatches are painted over one coat of base coat and I’m not wearing any top coat.

To the mouse house we go! is a red jelly polish, I’m wearing three coats and as you see my nail line is still visible.

If you want to see live swatches of this collection, be sure to check out my swatch video here! I haven’t really done anything like that before, so please let me know if you like it.

IMG_6364

My favorite from this polish has got to be Time for a Napa, I just love that pink coral shade! And my least favorite is probably Sweet Carmel Sunday, I’m really not that into metallics in that color.

I’m working on comparison swatches, like I did with the Fiji and Breakfast at Tiffany’s collections from OPI, and I’m hoping to be able to publish that post later this week!

Please let me know in the comments what you think about this collection, and do you have a favorite shade?

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Colorful tropical flowers

Yesterday was Cath’s (@withnailsandi) birthday, and to celebrate a bunch of us girls decided to recreate one of her manis.  To see all recreations search for #withcakeandi on Instagram.

I hope you’re ready for a lot of pictures of the nails I did, because I just love how they turned out!

img_9147

For this design I used Lady in black as the base. I stamped the flowers using White knight and Tropical collection 13 from MoYou London. To fill in the flowers I used the following Color Paints from OPI; Landscape artist, Pen & pink, Magenta muse, Primarily yellow, Chromatic orange and Purple perspective.

And here’s how they looked before I filled in the flowers with the Color Paints. Love them in color but I have to say that I’m digging this monochrome look too.

Pink flowers

Today I’m back with another mani using my new favorite stamping plate from Lina nail art supplies. If you’re thinking about getting it, get it! I have a feeling you won’t regret it.

img_9499

For this pink floral design I used Breakfast at Tiffany’sExotic birds do not tweet and Getting nadi on my honeymoon from OPI, White knight from MoYou London and stamping plate 4 seasons Spring 01 from Lina nail art supplies.

Blue floral nails

Hi guys, I hope you’re all well. Only one more day left until the weekend!

Today I’m wearing these cute floral nails that I made using a new stamping plate. Last Thursday I ordered a few stamping plates from nailartuk.co.uk and I got them on Monday, so talk about fast shipping. I’m not sure if I would’ve gotten them this fast if I’d ordered them from a Swedish store, so I will definitely be checking out this store again. What I got was the new Little baby stamping plate from ÜberChic beauty as well as two stamping plates, Feeling shapely! 07 and 4 seasons Spring 01, from Lina nail art supplies. The later is a brand that is new to me. I found a lot of beautiful plates from Lina, but since I haven’t tried them before I just got two to see if they were any good.

img_9330

For this floral design I used The I’s have it and Oh my majesty! from OPI, White knight from MoYou London and stamping plate 4 seasons Spring 01 from Lina nail art supplies. I really really like this stamping plate, it has so many cute motives that are perfect for spring. I think you can expect quite a few designs using this plate in the near future.

Tropical nails

Hi everybody, I hope you had a good weekend. Today I’m sharing my first nail art design using polishes from the Fiji collection. It’s a bright and fun manicure that definitely gives me spring vibes.

img_6926

img_6940

The polishes I used for this mani are: Living on the bula-vard, No tan lines and Exotic birds do not tweet. I started by painting two coats of Exotic birds do not tweet, the I grabbed a makeup sponge to create the gradient with. I dabbed each nail a few times until I was happy with the result. After that I added a quick dry top coat to get a smooth and even more blended result.

img_6921

img_6939

The last step of the design was to add the tropical flowers. To create them I used stamping plate Tropical collection 13 and stamping polish White knight from MoYou London together with my clear stamper from Born Pretty store. After that I sealed in the design once again with the fast drying top coat HK Girl from Glisten&Glow.

And a little behind the scenes / work in progress picture.

I hope you like this design and that it gives you spring feelings!
