OPI Love OPI, XOXO

Hi guys! Today I have something exciting to show you, the new holiday collection from OPI. It’s called Love OPI, XOXO and consists of 12 festive shades. As you’ll see OPI has changed the design of the bottles, and this time all my bottles have the new design (and not mixed like with the Iceland collection).

All my swatches are painted over one coat of base coat and I’m not wearing any top coat. Let’s take a look at the swatches!

OPI Iceland | comparisons

Sooo this post is long overdue, I said I’d post it a few days after the Iceland swatches but obviously that didn’t happen. But better late than never…. right?
I looked through my OPI collection and took out the shades that I thought would be most similar to the new polishes. I’m not comparing Turn on the northern lights! because I don’t have any polishes that are similar to that one.

IMG_7927

IMG_7926

Check out the old geysirs – I can never hut up

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They are very similar in formula, but Check out the old geysirs is ice blue whereas I can never hut up is grey/green.

IMG_7922

IMG_7921

This isn’t Greenland – Don’t talk Bach to me

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They’re no dupes, they’re not even that similar, especially not on the nails.

IMG_7953

IMG_7951

Aurora berry-alis – Just lanai-ing around

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They look very similar in this photo and they are almost the same shade. The big difference between them is that Just lanai-ing around has shimmer in it.

IMG_7949

IMG_7947

One heckla of a color – Purple palazzo pants

Here I’m wearing two coats of One heckla of a color and three coats of Purple palazzo pants. Looking at the bottle shots I thought they’d be more similar in color, but they’re not similar at all. Well they’re both purple, but thats about it. 😉

IMG_7979

IMG_7977

Reykjavik has all the hot spots – Hands off my kielbasa

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They both have that frosted finish, Reykjavik has all the hot spots dries with more visible brushstrokes, apart from that they’re not very similar.

IMG_7983

IMG_7981

Icelanded a bottle of OPI  – Berlin there done that – Taupe-less beach

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. If you compare the bottles Icelanded a bottle of OPI looks almost identical to Taupe-less beach, but on the nails Icelanded a bottle of OPI is pretty much a lighter shade of Berlin there done that (and not that similar to Taupe-less beach).

IMG_7988

IMG_7985

I’ll have a gin & tectonic – Barking up the wrong sequoia – A great opera-tunity

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They’re all pretty similar, so you probably don’t need to have them all (unless you’re a polish addict).

IMG_7992

IMG_7990

Less is norse – Suzi & the arctic fox – Dark side of the mood

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They’re all beautiful dark shades, but they’re no dupes.

IMG_7997

IMG_7995

That’s what friends are Thor – I brake for manicures – Krona-logical order – Shh… it’s top secret

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. No dupes for the new Iceland shades, but here we have four beautiful brown shades that are perfect for fall!

I hope these swatches helped you in your decision of which shades to get. Please let me know in the comments which ones you’re planning on getting (or already got) and which ones you’ll skip out on (and why)!

OPI Iceland

Even though it’s still summer it is time to start thinking about what we will wear on our nails this fall. Today I have swatches of the new Iceland collection from OPI to show you!

As you will see, some of my bottles look a bit different than what we’re used to. That is because OPI is changing the bottles, which is fine (I guess), though I don’t think it’s ok to mix old and new bottles within a collection. Don’t you just think it is disturbing and not pleasing to look at?

All swatches are painted over one coat of base coat and are without top coat. So, let’s take a look at the swatches, shall we?

Icelanded a Bottle of OPI is a taupe creme polish that covers in two coats.

IMG_5200

Aurora Berry-alis is a raspberry pink creme polish that covers in two coats. The formula  of this polish is amazing.

20170809_200553000_iOS

I really, really like this collection! My favorite shades are the darker ones, I just love them against my pale skin tone. And I know I said the same thing last year with the Washington DC collection, but I just love the contrast of dark against pale for fall.

My absolute favorite shade from this collection is Turn On the northern Lights!, I just love everything about that polish, the shade, the simmer! And my least favorite shade is Reykjavik Has All the Hot Spots, I’m just not really a fan of frosty shades like that one.

As usual I will make a comparisons post, so make sure to check back here in a few days for that!

Holo jelly gradient

Hi guys! Did you know that today is National nail polish day? Well, for me every day is nail polish day. But it’s still a fun occation, don’t you think?

Today I have some bright, sparkly and super glossy nails to share with you! I’m so happy with how they turned out so I’m actually gonna be a little sad when I have to remove them.

IMG_7581

I started by painting my nails with Mega (X) from ILNP which is a silver holographic polish. Then I sponged on the gradient using the Color Paints from OPI (Landscape artist, Primarily yellow, Chromatic orange, Magenta muse and Purple perspective). Lastly I stamped a floral pattern over the gradient using stamping plate 9-03 from ÜberChic beauty and Midnight mischief from Painted Polish (which is THE best black stamping polish!).

IMG_7580

Here is how the gradient looked before I added the stamping. It’s really pretty, but I like it so much more with the stamping on top. Which version do you like the most?

IMG_7584

IMG_7582

IMG_7583

How are you celebrating national nail polish day? I’m going to celebrate by taking these off (😢) and paint some new nails!

OPI California dreaming | comparisons

As I mentioned earlier this week here are my comparison swatches of the shades from the California dreaming collection (except for Don’t take Yosemite for granite that I didn’t have anything similar to). I took out the shades that I thought would be the most similar from my OPI collection. If you’re wondering about a specific polish that I haven’t compared it too, either I don’t have it or they were not similar enough.

IMG_6616

IMG_6816

Excuse me, big sur! – Humidi-tea

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They look pretty similar if you compare the bottles (except that Humidi-tea has shimmer in it) but they’re not that similar on the nails.

IMG_6579

IMG_6817

Barking up the wrong Sequoia – A great opera-tunity

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. They are almost dupes, Barking up the wrong Sequoia is just a little bit lighter than A great opera-tunity, but they’re similar enough to not need both.

IMG_6619

IMG_6820

Santa Monica beach peach – Can’t afjord not to – Hot & spicy

Here I’m wearing two coats of each polish. Even though they looked pretty similar in the bottles they are not on the nails.

IMG_6797

IMG_6823

Malibu pier pressure – Kiss me I’m Brazilian – Flip flops & crop tops – Suzi nails New Orleans

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. Kiss me I’m Brazilian and Flip flops & crop tops are almost identical to Malibu pier pressure, so it’s not a vey unique shade of pink.

IMG_6799

IMG_6826

Time for a Napa – SPF XXX – Got myself into a Jam-balaya – Toucan do it if you try

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. The shades are similar, but not at all dupes.

IMG_6801

IMG_6829

Feeling frisco – Don’t pretzel my buttons – Pale to the chief – Samoan sand

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade except for Samoan sand which I’m wearing three coats of. They’re all very similar, and closest to a dupe is Pale to the chief.

IMG_6805

IMG_6832

GPS I love you – Apartment for two – Mad for madness sake – Don’t know… beets me!

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. This seems to be a very popular OPI shade, since I have four almost identical shades…

IMG_6803

IMG_6835

Me, myselfie & I – Aloha from OPI – Living on the bula-vard! – Live.Love.Carnaval

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. I’d say that Me, myselfie & I and Aloha from OPI are pretty much dupes to Living on the bula-vard!

IMG_6807

IMG_6838

This is not whine country – Too hot pink to hold ’em – Madam President – Koala bear-y

Here I’m wearing two coats of Madam President and Koala bear-y, three coats of This is not whine country and four coats of Too hot pink to hold ’em. I was pretty sure that id have at least one dupe for This is not whine country, but it turns out I was wrong.

IMG_6809

IMG_6841

To the mouse house we go – Big apple red – Having a big head day – The thrill of Brazil

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade except for To the mouse house we go which I’m wearing three coats of. To the mouse house we go is a jelly and is much brighter than the other shades.

IMG_6811

IMG_6844

Sweet Carmel Sunday – Worth a pretty penne – Brisbane bronze

Here I’m wearing two coats of each polish. Worth a pretty penne has almost the same shade as Sweet Carmel Sunday, but they have different finishes so they’re not dupes.

I hope these swatches helped you in your decision of which shades to get. Please let me know in the comments which ones you’re planning on getting and which ones you’ll skip out on (and why)!

OPI California dreaming

Hi everybody! Today I have swatches of OPI’s new collection California dreaming to share with you. At first glance I wasn’t that interested in this collection, I thought many of the shades looked too similar. But after trying them all I have to say that I’ve changed my mind. Though I think it would’ve been nice to see some other colors in the collection, like green, blue or purple.

Let’s take a look at the swatches! All swatches are painted over one coat of base coat and I’m not wearing any top coat.

IMG_6354

IMG_6355

IMG_6356

To the mouse house we go! is a red jelly polish, I’m wearing three coats and as you see my nail line is still visible.

If you want to see live swatches of this collection, be sure to check out my swatch video here! I haven’t really done anything like that before, so please let me know if you like it.

IMG_6364

My favorite from this polish has got to be Time for a Napa, I just love that pink coral shade! And my least favorite is probably Sweet Carmel Sunday, I’m really not that into metallics in that color.

I’m working on comparison swatches, like I did with the Fiji and Breakfast at Tiffany’s collections from OPI, and I’m hoping to be able to publish that post later this week!

Please let me know in the comments what you think about this collection, and do you have a favorite shade?

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Colorful tropical flowers

Yesterday was Cath’s (@withnailsandi) birthday, and to celebrate a bunch of us girls decided to recreate one of her manis.  To see all recreations search for #withcakeandi on Instagram.

I hope you’re ready for a lot of pictures of the nails I did, because I just love how they turned out!

img_9147

For this design I used Lady in black as the base. I stamped the flowers using White knight and Tropical collection 13 from MoYou London. To fill in the flowers I used the following Color Paints from OPI; Landscape artist, Pen & pink, Magenta muse, Primarily yellow, Chromatic orange and Purple perspective.

And here are some pictures of them in matte.
