Day 2: A pink dotticure using a bunch of OPI polishes.

Day 3: Pink holo with Red Taboo from Layla.

Day 4: Leopard heart gradient using OPI polishes.

Day 5: Kiss me on my tulips from OPI, one of my favorite pink polishes!

Day 6: DS Reflection from OPI.

Day 7: Simple pink ribbon nail art using bardot and rose from piCture pOlish.

Essie Rosa bandet 2016

This year’s pink collection from Essie consists of six of their bestselling pink polishes, AllureRomper roomSugar daddyPink diamondStatus symbol and Bachelorette bash together with the new limited edition Gel setter 3D pop tint.

img_8872Essie – Allure

Allure is a sheer white polish with pink tones, here I’m wearing three coats. This shade was released in 2002 and it is a very popular wedding shade. For instance Kate Middleton is rumored to have worn this shade on her wedding day.

img_8876Essie -Romper room

Romper room is a light pink creme polish that covers in three coats. This shade was released in 2014.

img_8880Essie -Sugar daddy

Sugar daddy is a very, very sheer light pink polish, here I’m wearing three coats. Personally it’s way too sheer for my taste, but I think it could work as the base for a french manicure. This shade was released in 2004.

img_8884Essie -Pink diamond

Pink diamond is a light pink frosty polish that covers in three coats. I not a big fan of this color and formula together, it gives me “grandma” vibes. This shade was released in 2004.

img_8888Essie -Status symbol

Status symbol is a bright pink creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade was released in 2009.

img_8892Essie -Bachelorette bash

Bachelorette bash is a bright fuchsia creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade was released in 2006.

I was actually surprised of how much I liked Allure! My least favorites from this collection are Sugar daddy and Pink diamond, are they really two of Essie’s bestselling pink polishes?

I made some nail art with a few of the polishes from this collection and my inspiration was this year’s pink ribbon, designed by the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. I used Romper room, Pink diamond and Status symbol.

Essie Kimono-over

This fall Rebecca Minkoff is taking us to Japan with Essie’s new collection called Kimono-over. The collection consists of three typical fall shades and three lighter shades.

“If you want to get lucky, I say kimono-over” – Essie

img_7768Essie Kimono-over – Playing koi

Playing koi is a rusty orange creme polish that covers in two coats. It’s a perfect fall shade!

img_7770Essie Kimono-over – Maki me happy

Maki me happy is a berry toned red creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_7772Essie Kimono-over – Kimono-over

Kimono over is a dark plum creme polish that is almost a one coater, but I used two coats. I love shades like this one for fall.

img_7766Essie Kimono-over – Now and zen

Now and zen is a light grey creme polish with hints of green in it, and it covers in two coats.

img_7761Essie Kimono-over – Go go geisha

Go go geisha is a dusty light pink creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_7764Essie Kimono-over – Udon know me

Udon know me is a dusty light blue creme polish that covers in two coats.

I think it’s a really good collection, both formula and color wise and my favorite shades are Playing koi and Kimono-over.

Which shade is your favorite from the collection?

Essie Leggy legend

Leggy legend is one of my favorite polishes from last fall! It is a gourgeous gold/copper metallic polish that covers in two coats.

I wanted to make an autumnal manicure with Leggy legend as the base, and this is how it turned out. I used stamping plate BP-19 from Born Pretty Store together with Licorice from Essie to create the leaves.

My guinea pig August and my nails. I like how my nails match his fur, and I think he likes them too.

Essie Starry Starry Night vs Depend O2 428

Earlier this year Essie re-released Starry Starry Night and a lot of people were not too happy with the new version of the polish. I think that I may have found a dupe for the original version of the polish, O2 428 from Depend! Though I only have the new version of Starry Starry Night, so that’s the only one I can compare it too.

img_3412Essie Starry Starry Night & Depend O2 428

Here you see two coats of both polishes over one coat of base coat. The formula of the two polishes are pretty similar and they are a little bit thick. On the first coat they look pretty awful and like they will new a few more coats to be opaque, but the second coat covers really well!

The only difference between these two polishes are the size of the glitters, so which one you’ll like the most depends on what you prefer. But don’t you agree with me, O2 428 from Depend looks like a good substitute for the original Starry Starry Night.

Empties #1

A few of my products just happened to runt out at the same time, so I thought I’d share with you what I think about them. And if I will I purchase them again…

L’Occitane – Shea butter hand cream

I really liked this hand creme! It has a nice subtle smell and it moisturizes your hands without leaving them feeling greasy. This size (30 ml) is perfect for the handbag, or just to try the product like I did. I’m pretty sure I will purchase this hand cream again and I probably would’ve already done it, if I didn’t have so many new hand creams at home already. 🙈

OPI – Nail Envy

I always use one coat of Nail Envy before I use a base coat, and I think that works good for me. It keeps my nails strong and since I practically have two coats of base coat, that protects my nails from staining pretty well too. I had already purchased a new bottle before I ran out of this one.

OPI – Avoplex cuticle oil to go

This one I keep in my handbag and it’s the perfect size and design to use ‘on the go’ as the name applies. Avoplex is my favorite cuticle oil, I don’t know how many bottles I’ve used up by now, so of course I had already purchased a replacement for this one.

Essie – many many mani

This is a (quite) new favorite for me. I love the smell and how easily it sinks in to the skin, you can read more about it here. I even had to cut the tube in two to be able to get it all out! I haven’t found this hand creme anywhere in Sweden yet, so I’ll make sure to buy it next time I’m abroad (which will be in three weeks).

Have you tried any of these products?

Essie Gel setter top coat

So, I’ve had this top coat for a few months now but I haven’t really tried it until a few weeks ago. What a shame, because I really like it!

Essie Gel setter top coat

Essie’s Gel setter is a top coat that has a gel-like finish. It dries fast and super shiny. Even though it feels a bit thicker than a regular top coat it is still easy to apply. Many fast drying top coats shrink the polish when they dry, but not this one.
There is only one thing that I don’t like with this top coat, and that is that it sometimes gives a lot of bubbles when it dries. I still haven’t figured out why it does that, so I’m still working on it.

Anyway, I wore a mani topped with this polish for three days and they were still super shiny, like if they were just polished, and they had no signs of chipping. I think that’s pretty impressing! If I hadn’t gotten tired of the mani I would’ve worn it longer.

Essie Going Guru

For this year’s resort collection Essie turned to India for inspiration. I’ve had my eyes on this collection for some time now, and when Kicks had 20% off on all Essie polishes I decided it was time to get it!

img_0291Essie Going Guru – Going Guru

Going Guru is a gorgeous green shade that is perfect for the season. It’s described by Essie as a mint lime shade, and I think the description is pretty accurate. I thought that I’d have a similar shade from Essie from before, but I was wrong. It always makes me happy to find a shade that isn’t a dupe to any of my other polishes! The formula is good and this one covers in two coats.

img_0388Essie Going Guru – Nama-stay the night

Nama-stay the night is a bright blue creme polish and it’s a bit more turquoise than it turns out in the pictures. Since I’m loving blue polishes at the moment, this one is not an exception! The formula of this polish is AMAZING. It is a OCW (one coat wonder) but I actually used two coats anyway to intensify the color.

img_0394Essie Going Guru – Taj-ma-haul

Taj-ma-haul is a spicy orange creme polish that covers in two coats. The formula is good and the polish actually turns out a bit darker on the nails than in the bottle. I don’t think I have a shade like this one from before either, lucky me!

img_0398Essie Going Guru – Dehli dance

Delhi dance is a bubble gum pink creme polish. This one has the thinnest formula of the bunch and I needed two to three coats for it to cover completely. The shade isn’t unique, but it’s still a pretty pink that’s perfect for summer.!

Since I bought these polishes in a Swedish store they come with the wide rounded brush. I have previously preferred to buy Essie’s from the US, since they come with the skinny brush, but now I’m not so sure anymore. I guess I have gotten used to the wide brush and started liking it more that I ever thought I would.

Which Essie brush do you prefer?

OPI I am what I amethyst vs Essie Virgin snow

It’s time for another comparison swatch! This time I’m showing you OPI’s I am what I amethyst, from this years Soft shades collection, and Essie’s Virgin snow, from last years winter collection.

img_9659OPI I am what I amethyst & Essie Virgin snow

Here you see two coats of each polish on my nails. Both polishes are pretty similar in the formula.

On it’s own I am what I amethyst looks purple, but compared to Virgin snow it looks more blue. Pretty similar polishes, but not dupes as you see in the pictures.

Which one do you prefer?

Throwback Thursday: Essie Flowerista

It was a long time since I did a throwback Thursday post, shame on me!

Today I’m throwing it back to last spring and Flowerista from Essie’s spring collection with the same name. I immediately fell in love with Flowerista when it was released, but I have to admit that I haven’t worn it that much since…

img_9448Essie Flowerista – Flowerista

What you see here is two easily applied coats of this beautiful shade.
