Today we celebrate Midsummer’s eve in Sweden so sharing swatches of Essie’s Midsummer collection is perfect for today. I haven’t bought any Essie polishes in a long time (mostly because they’re pretty expense in Sweden) but since this collection is dedicated to Midsummer (which is a Swedish tradition) plus I found them for a really good price, I had to get them!
If you’re not familiar with midsummer it’s a Swedish/Nordic tradition where we celebrate the longest day of the year. In Sweden we dance around a Maypole, eat early potatoes and pickled herring (which I don’t like) and drink schnapps (not a big fan of that either) and of course the dessert is strawberries with cream or ice-cream.
According to the tradition girls should pick seven flowers and put under their pillow, and during the night they’ll dream about their future husband…
June in bloom is a pink polish with silver shimmer. Here I’m wearing two coats plus top coat.
SKÅL! is a green creme polish that covers on two coats. (Skål is Swedish for cheers)
Midnight sun is a blue creme polish that covers in two coats.
All night long is a purple polish with blue shimmer that covers in two coats.
Dressed to the maxi is a raspberry pink polish with pink shimmer that covers in two coats.
Dusk till dawn is a wine red creme polish with purple undertones that covers in two coats.
My favorites from this collection are SKÅL!, Midnight sun and All night long. Nail art wise SKÅL! will be perfect for floral manis, and I think it’ll come to great use this summer.
Sadly, I think this collection is only available in the Nordic countries and Germany.
What’s your favorite shade from this collection?
