H&M Beauty

Last fall H&M released their new beauty line and I have tried a few of their polishes.

img_9213H&M – Space Race

Space Race is a silver linear holo polish that covers in two coats. It dries a bit dull, so make sure to add a glossy top coat.

img_9214H&M – Yolo Holo

Yolo Holo is a very sheer pearl polish, here I’m wearing three coats. It is best suited as a topper. I think the name is a bit confusing since this is not a holo polish.

img_9215H&M – Fairie Holo

Fairie Holo is a gold holo glitter polish. My nails looked like disco ball with this polish on. Here I’m wearing three sponged coats over one painted coat.

img_9216H&M – Undersea

Undersea is a blue metallic polish that covers in two coats.

img_9217H&M – Parisienne

Parisienne is a bright red polish, here I’m wearing three coats and as you can see I still have a bit of VNL.

Over all I’m pretty impressed with the polishes from H&M. They have a brush that is easy to work with and the formula was good. And they are pretty cheap, 49 kr each (though I got a few on sale for 10kr each!!!). Out of these polishes Space Race is definitely my favorite!

Have you tried any polishes from H&M? Did you like them?

OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s | comparisons

One of my readers requested that I made some comparison swatches of the new Breakfast at Tiffany’s collection, and who am I to say no?

img_8955

img_8905I believe in manicures – Sailing & Nail-ing

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade and they are very similar, but not exactly dupes. I believe in manicures is a bit darker than Sailing & Nail-ing, so if you like blue polishes I’d say get both! Light blue is not as common as many other colors so get them while you can and who knows when we’ll get a baby blue polish next time.

img_8957

img_8907Apartment for two – Kiss me on my tulips – Hey baby – Mad for madness sake

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade and as you can see they are almost dupes, but Apartment for two is a little bit darker. It is probably the closest to Hey baby. The polishes look identical in the bottles, but on the nail you can see a bit of a difference.

img_8959

img_8909Meet my “decorator” – Tasmanian devil made me do it – I STOP for red  – OPI on Collins Ave.

Here are four red polishes that are basically the same shade, here I’m wearing two coats of each shade. If you want to get one of these get Meet my “decorator” because it has the best formula that is so easy to apply.

img_8961

img_8911Got the mean reds – Big apple red – Having a big head day

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade and they are all pretty much the same. Got the mean reds is perhaps a little bit darker than the others, but the difference is not big enough for you to need them all.

img_8963

img_8913Can’t read without my lipstick – Guys & galaxies – Got the blues for red – Visions of love

Here I’m wearing two coats of each shade and even though Can’t read without my lipstick is a dark red, it is not that dark compared to Guys & galaxies and Visions of love. I thought it would be somewhere in between Got the blues for red and Guys & galaxies/Visions of love but it ened up being closest to Got the blues for red.

I hope you found these swatches helpful!

Essie Rosa bandet 2016

This year’s pink collection from Essie consists of six of their bestselling pink polishes, AllureRomper roomSugar daddyPink diamondStatus symbol and Bachelorette bash together with the new limited edition Gel setter 3D pop tint.

img_8870

img_8872Essie – Allure

Allure is a sheer white polish with pink tones, here I’m wearing three coats. This shade was released in 2002 and it is a very popular wedding shade. For instance Kate Middleton is rumored to have worn this shade on her wedding day.

img_8874

img_8876Essie -Romper room

Romper room is a light pink creme polish that covers in three coats. This shade was released in 2014.

img_8878

img_8880Essie -Sugar daddy

Sugar daddy is a very, very sheer light pink polish, here I’m wearing three coats. Personally it’s way too sheer for my taste, but I think it could work as the base for a french manicure. This shade was released in 2004.

img_8882

img_8884Essie -Pink diamond

Pink diamond is a light pink frosty polish that covers in three coats. I not a big fan of this color and formula together, it gives me “grandma” vibes. This shade was released in 2004.

img_8886

img_8888Essie -Status symbol

Status symbol is a bright pink creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade was released in 2009.

img_8890

img_8892Essie -Bachelorette bash

Bachelorette bash is a bright fuchsia creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade was released in 2006.

img_8893

I was actually surprised of how much I liked Allure! My least favorites from this collection are Sugar daddy and Pink diamond, are they really two of Essie’s bestselling pink polishes?

img_8898

I made some nail art with a few of the polishes from this collection and my inspiration was this year’s pink ribbon, designed by the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. I used Romper room, Pink diamond and Status symbol.

Empties #6

This time it’s all about the hands, feet and nails. A few of these products are old favorites that I always have at home, and some of the products are just meh…

Burt’s Bees – Peppermint foot lotion

Why does almost all foot creams smell of peppermint? I wish that this foot cream would have been a bit more moisturizing and nourishing. I like the Coconut foot cream from Burt’s Bees much more. My boyfriend hated the scent of this product so he is really happy now that it’s all used up, and I’m not allowed to buy it again…😉

Burt’s Bees – Lemon butter cuticle cream

First of all, this cuticle cream smells divine! I’m a sucker for lemon so this is just right up my alley. I keep this next to my bed, and use it every night before I go to bed. It is just great for dry cuticles. This is a product that I always have at home.

OPI – Natural nail base coat

This is my favorite base coat. I don’t know how many bottles of this I’ve used up by now, but it’s a lot.

OPI – Avoplex Nail & cuticle replenishing oil

Avoplex is my go to cuticle oil. I love everything about it. I always have one at home, one at work and one ‘on the go’ version in my handbag.

Dermalogica – Multivitamin hand and nail treatment

I really did not like the scent of this hand creme, it smells like seaweed. I’m glad that it was just 15ml and that I got it in a gwp. I can’t really say if it is good or not, since it took me like eight months to use it all up. And no it’s not super economical, I just didn’t want to use it, that’s why it took so long.

OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s

I have a confession to make, I have never seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so I have no idea what the film is about. However I do appreciate this year’s holiday collection from OPI, and maybe now I have to see the film (with matching nails of course).

img_8010

I know why you’re here, so let’s just look at the swatches.

img_8278

img_8280OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – I believe in manicures

I believe in manicures is a baby blue creme polish. On the first coat it is very streaky but with the right application technique you can get it opaque in just two coats.

img_8282

One coat of Champagne for breakfast over I believe in manicures.

img_8399

img_8401OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Champagne for breakfast

Champagne for breakfast is a silver holo glitter polish that is supposed to be a glitter topper, so it will need a lot of coats to be opaque on its own. Here I’m wearing three coats.

img_8300

img_8302OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Black dress not optional

Black dress not optional is a black creme polish with super fine silver shimmer that covers in two coats.

img_8304

One coat of Five-and-ten over Black dress not optional.

img_8294

img_8296OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Apartment for two

Apartment for two is a bright fuchsia creme polish that covers in two coats. It’s not a unique shade in any way but the formula is amazing. If you don’t already own a polish in this color, this is the one to get.

img_8298

One coat of Sunrise… bedtime! over Apartment for two.

img_8290

img_8292OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Five-and-ten

Five-and-ten is a frosty silver polish with pink and silver glitter pieces. It covers in two coats.

img_8387

img_8389OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Rich & Brazilian

Rich & Brazilian is a dark purple polish with shimmer that covers in two coats.

img_8320

img_8322OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Meet my “decorator”

Meet my “decorator” is an orange toned red creme polish that covers in two easy coats. It’s not a unique shade, but the formula is amazing.

img_8324

img_8326OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Got the mean reds

Got the mean reds is a classic red creme polish that we’ve seen a million times before. But it’s a red polish with an amazing formula that covers in two coats and OPI is really good at making these types of reds.

img_8383

img_8385OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Fire escape rendezvous

Fire escape rendezvous is a red metallic polish with glitter pieces in different sizes and shapes. It covers in just one coat, but I used two coats to get a deeper color and to get more glitter on the nails.

img_8284

img_8286OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a pale pink polish with fine gold shimmer. It covers in two coats which I was quite surprised to find out seeing it’s such a light color. The formula of this polish is a bit thick.

img_8288

One coat of Sunrise… bedtime! over Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

img_8395

img_8397OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Sunrise… bedtime!

Sunrise… bedtime! is a pink holo glitter polish that is supposed to be a glitter topper. It is somewhat covering in two coats, which I’m wearing here.

img_8391

img_8393OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Can’t read without my lipstick

Can’t read without my lipstick is a burgundy crelly polish that covers in two coats and it dries super shiny.

img_8408

At the first glimpse of the pictures of this collection I didn’t feel like it looked like a holiday collection. But after getting the collection and having tried all polishes I have to say that I’ve changed my mind a bit. Sure it has a lot of light colors, but I think it works for the holidays anyway. And who says you can only wear dark colors during the winter season?

I think my favorite shades has to be Fire escape rendezvous and Sunrise… bedtime! just because I don’t have any polishes like that from before.

What do you think about this year’s holiday collection from OPI?

OPI Brilliant & Plumping top coat

OPI recently released two new top coats, Brilliant and Plumping. Brilliant is a high-shine top coat and Plumping a volumizing top coat, they are both supposed to be fast drying.

I was really excited to try them since OPI is my favorite nail polish brand (as you may know). I bought mine on eBay before they were released in Sweden, and I thought that I would be able to review them before they would be available here. And then Seche Vive happened… which lead to me not painting my nails much at all for some weeks this summer.

img_6407

img_6408

OPI Brilliant and Plumping

I have tried them both now and here’s what I think about them.

OPI Brilliant

Brilliant is supposed to be a super shiny top coat, but I don’t think that it’s shinier than any other top coat I’ve tried. It’s very thin on the nail and I think that it took a long time for it to dry (for being a quick dry top coat). If you want a super shiny fast drying top coat I suggest that you try HK Girl from Glisten & Glow instead.

OPI Plumping

Plumping is supposed to be a volumizing top coat, and it actually feels a bit thicker than a regular top coat. The drying time is okay but not fast enough for being a fast drying top coat. It dries very glossy and looks good on the nails. But if you don’t have time to wait for your nails to dry completely and you want a plumping fast drying top coat I suggest that you try Gel setter from Essie instead.

Another thing that I don’t like with these top coats is the price, they’re really expensive. They retail for 205 kr instead of 155 kr (which is the ‘normal’ price for OPI polishes in Sweden), and they’re not worth it.

Sorry OPI, I really really like your products, but you are so much better than these two products!

China Glaze Frostbite

I started off this week with some blue nails, namely Frostbite from China Glaze. Frostbite is a gorgeous frosty blue polish that covers in two to three coats.

img_7934

I really liked this polish so I felt like wearing it a little bit longer than I had planned. So I decided to do some nail art over it.

img_7845

It was a really long time since I did a glitter gradient, so thats what I went for this time. And I think the nails turned out really festive, they would be perfect for New Years Eve! The base is Frostbite and the glitter is Muppets world tour from OPI.

img_7860

It was also really long time since I used matte top coat so why not add that over the nails while I was at it. And they turned out even better, at least according to me! I must use matte top coat more often.

Which look do you prefer, shiny or matte?

Empties #5

Welcome to the scrub edition of my empties!

Clinique – 7 day scrub cream

A good scrub that exfoliates the skin gently, the skin feels smooth and soft after using it.

Decléor – Aroma cleanse

A fine body scrub that is really good! The skin feels so nice and smooth after using it. Also, it doesn’t smell much which I think is pretty unusual for Decléor products. I don’t really like the scent of their products (I think they’re too perfumed), but this one I like!

The Body Shop – Sweet lemon sugar body scrub

A scratchy body scrub that smells lovely of lemon. I love citrus and I love this one. Too bad that it’s discontinued, because it is the perfect scrub for summer.

Maria Åkerberg – Papaya peeling

An organic papaya scented face scrub that gently exfoliates the skin. I think that it is good when it’s new. With time the consistency changes and it becomes very runny, and I feel that it doesn’t work as good then.

Essie Kimono-over

This fall Rebecca Minkoff is taking us to Japan with Essie’s new collection called Kimono-over. The collection consists of three typical fall shades and three lighter shades.

img_7756

img_7757

“If you want to get lucky, I say kimono-over” – Essie

img_7768Essie Kimono-over – Playing koi

Playing koi is a rusty orange creme polish that covers in two coats. It’s a perfect fall shade!

img_7770Essie Kimono-over – Maki me happy

Maki me happy is a berry toned red creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_7772Essie Kimono-over – Kimono-over

Kimono over is a dark plum creme polish that is almost a one coater, but I used two coats. I love shades like this one for fall.

img_7766Essie Kimono-over – Now and zen

Now and zen is a light grey creme polish with hints of green in it, and it covers in two coats.

img_7761Essie Kimono-over – Go go geisha

Go go geisha is a dusty light pink creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_7764Essie Kimono-over – Udon know me

Udon know me is a dusty light blue creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_7774

I think it’s a really good collection, both formula and color wise and my favorite shades are Playing koi and Kimono-over.

Which shade is your favorite from the collection?

Beauty favorites September

It’s time for a new category here on my blog, monthly beauty favorites! Products that I have used and loved this past month.

img_7506

Rituals – Honey touch

I seriously can’t stop sniffing myself after I’ve applied this body creme. It smells sooo good and leaves my skin soft and moisturized. I really like Rituals body cremes because they sink in to the skin very quickly, and as I already said they smell so lovely.

Exuviance – Triple Microdermabrasion

This face polish is the best! My skin feels so smooth and soft after using it. This is a product that will always be a part of my skin care routine from now on.

The Body Shop – Himalayan charcoal

This is one of the new face masks from The Body Shop. I got a sample of it a few weeks ago and after trying it I just had to buy the mask. I like how it makes my skin feel deeply cleansed and my pores smaller. Read more about it here.

Ole Henriksen – Truth serum collagen booster

First of all this serums smells amazing! Like the color hints, it smells like orange. I have just started to use this serum but so far I really like it, it feels like it gives the skin a bit of an extra glow.

Depend – Eyebrow Pencil slim & thin

This is one of the new products from Depends Perfect eye collection and the eyebrow pencil quickly became a favorite of mine. It is really easy to use and the result gets better every day. My brows are on fleek with this pencil!

Which products were your favorites this past month? Let me know in the comments!
