Glisten & Glow HK Girl

If you’re part of the nail art community I bet you have heard of HK Girl, the holy grail of top coats for many. I have wanted to try it for a really long time, but it is not available in Sweden and shipping from the US is really expensive. So I’ve just stuck to Seche Vite.

This summer when I went to London I met up with Marta (@nailonthames) and she was kind to give me a few bottles of HK Girl (she said that I would want more than just one bottle, and she was right!). I have been using HK Girl since then and I’m hooked. I never want to be without it! It dries super fast and it is super shiny. I have used up almost half the bottle now and the polish is still good, it hasn’t turned thick. And best of all, it doesn’t shrink the polish when it dries like Seche vite and other fast drying top coats sometimes do.

Even though the shipping is expensive I will stick to this new favorite of mine. I’ll just make sure to buy a bunch at the same time to make it more economical.

Have you tried HK Girl? Do you like it too?

Depend Perfect eye

Last Friday I was in Stockholm for Depend’s press event Perfect eye. Before the event I met up with Hanna to take some nail pictures, because we had done matching manis for the occasion.

Twin nails using a bunch of Depend polishes: O2 497 (from the Rewind collection), 419, 493, 496 and 498 (from the Glam Rock collection) and butterfly stencils from Snail Vinyls.

And here’s a closeup of my nails, I love the way they sparkle in the sun!

After taking the pictures we went to Strandvägen 7 where the event was held. We were greeted with champagne and wraps, which we ate while we mingled with all the new products.

Eyebrow Pencil slim & thin, 149kr. Eyebrow Pencil triangular, 149kr. Eyebrow duo styler, 59kr. Eyebrow Pomade colour cream, 149kr.

Lash & eyebrow colour, 129kr.

Eyebrow colour, 119kr. Eyelashes, 69kr. Eyelash glue, 69kr. Eyebrow beauty kit, 329kr.

Hanna getting her brows fixed by Frédérique Mimran. She showed us how we should use the new eyebrow products to get perfect brows. Depend worked together with Frédérique for eight years to create the new brow products.

Of course Depend had the new nail polish collections there as well, here is the Force of nature collection.

And here’s the goodie bag we got at the event! As you can see I have sooo many new products to try out!

Thank you Depend for a lovely event and thanks for inviting me!

The new eye and brow products will be released week 40.

Depend Glam Rock

It is time for me to show you Depend’s last fall collection! I have already showed you their other three collection for this fall, Holo Fantasy, Force of nature and Rewind.

For this collection the bottles have gotten a new design and I must say I really like it!

Empties #4

Here are a few more of my recent empties!

Lagerhaus – Kokos (Coconut scented candle)

I love scented candles and especially to have them in the bathroom, it makes the whole room smell so nice. This one is pretty cheap (39kr) for 45h burn time. The best part is that the whole candle burns up, unlike many other cheap candles that just burn a small hole in the middle. Oh, and I almost forgot, it smells lovely!

The Body Shop – Almond hand & nail cream

It’s a pretty good hand creme that keeps your hands moisturized but I don’t really like the almond scent. I have tried a lot of other hand creams that I like much more than this one.

Bliss – Triple oxygen instant energizing cleansing foam

Talk about putting a really long name on that product, I mean who even says the whole name? I like to use a foaming face wash when I’m removing my makeup and this one is pretty good, you don’t need to use that much product for the makeup to come off. But afterwards the skin feels a bit oily and that’s the one thing that I dislike about this product.

Löwengrip Care & Color – Count on me

To begin with I didn’t like this deodorant, it just didn’t work for me! At first it smelled lovely, but as soon as I got warm the smell turned really bad. But since it is kind of pricey (119kr) I didn’t want to throw it away. After a few months, when my other deodorant was empty, I tried this one again and this time it worked better. It’s not the best deodorant I’ve tried and it’s also not the worst, but for this price I was hoping for more.

Bliss – Ex-‘glow’-sion

A lovely vitamin infused moisture cream that smells so good. After using it the skin feels moisturized and gets a nice glow. I’m a bit sad that it’s all used up (and that I have other creams to use up before get a new one) but I’m pretty sure that I will buy it again soon.

Essie Leggy legend

Leggy legend is one of my favorite polishes from last fall! It is a gourgeous gold/copper metallic polish that covers in two coats.

I wanted to make an autumnal manicure with Leggy legend as the base, and this is how it turned out. I used stamping plate BP-19 from Born Pretty Store together with Licorice from Essie to create the leaves.

My guinea pig August and my nails. I like how my nails match his fur, and I think he likes them too.

Depend O2 Rewind

The next fall collection from Depend is their new O2 collection called Rewind. I’ve already showed you two of their collections for this fall, Holo Fantasy and Force of nature.

I think this collection have many gorgeous colors that are perfect for fall.

img_6785Depend Rewind – 491

491 is an orange creme polish that covers in two coats.

492 is a rusty red creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade is so perfect for fall and it’s one of my favorites.

img_6789Depend Rewind – 493

493 is a dusty purple creme polish that covers in two coats. This shade is gorgeous and another favorite from the collection.

img_6793Depend Rewind – 494

494 is a dark purple berry creme polish that covers in two coats. This is another lovely fall shade!

img_6795Depend Rewind – 495

Depend 7day Force of nature

Depend have quite a few collections coming out this fall, I’ve already showed you the Holo Fantasy collection and now it’s time for their 7day collection called Force of nature. I got eight polishes to review (out of 14 polishes) from this collection.

img_6747Depend Force of nature – 7094 Mother nature

Mother nature is a light brown creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_6751Depend Force of nature – 7096 Wild berries

Wild berries is a berry toned purple creme polish that covers in two coats. I love this shade!!

img_6749Depend Force of nature – 7098 Silent forest

Silent forest is a dusty green creme polish that covers in two coats.

img_6757Depend Force of nature – 7099 Falling leaves

Falling leaves is a rusty red crelly that covers in three coats.

img_6761Depend Force of nature – 7102 Nature’s lullaby

Nature’s lullaby is a gold,  copper and black glitter polish in a clear base that covers in three coats. The polish in my bottle was almost all dried up, the bottle neck was really messy, so I think that’s why. I tried to save it by pouring a LOT of Seche restore into the bottle and mix it together. It worked but the formulas is not good.

img_6753Depend Force of nature – 7103 Reflecting pond

Reflecting pond is a blue metallic polish that covers in two coats.

img_6759Depend Force of nature – 7105 Secret wildfire

Secret wildfire is a dark vampy red metallic polish that covers in two coats.

img_6755Depend Force of nature – 7107 Wild & free

Wild & free is a red metallic polish that covers in two coats.

The polishes are available from week 35 and retail for 39 kr.

Rituals nail polish

Rituals is my favorite body care brand, so far I’ve loved everything I’ve tired from them. So when I found out that they have makeup too I was intrigued. Did you know that they have makeup as well?

I have a few polishes from Rituals to show you today, one neutral shade, two bright shades and two darker shades.

img_6395Rituals – Light pink

Light pink is a very sheer pale pink polish. I used three coats here but as you see I still have a lot of VNL*, way too much for my taste. I think this polish would be perfect as the base for a French manicure, or by itself if you have shorter nails.

img_6397Rituals – Light turquoise

Light turquoise is a mint creme polish that covers really good in one coat, but you know me, I always use two coats to get a more intense color. I really like this polish and I think it is the perfect color for spring and summer. I just wonder why they named it Light turquoise since it is mint colored.

img_6399Rituals – Light peach

Light peach is a peach-y coral creme polish that covers in two to three coats. I love this color so so much, it is the perfect summer shade!

img_6401Rituals – Grey blue

Grey blue is a grey-ish creme polish that is almost a one coater, however I used two coats.

img_6403Rituals  – Dark grey

Dark grey is a brown creme polish that covers in two coats. I’m a bit confused here, it is called Dark grey, but it is a brown polish. Anyway, it is a beautiful autumn shade.

All polishes have a really good formula that is easy to apply. I really liked the brush, it is just the right size, not too skinny and not too wide. All swatches are all painted over one coat of base coat and are without top coat.

While I swatched these polishes I had my Sweet Sunrise scented candle from Rituals next to me, I’m so obsessed with it! It smells lovely and it’s beautiful when it’s lit up (then you see the quote “What’s meant to be, will always find a way” which is not visible otherwise).

The Body Shop face masks

This weekend I got some samples of The Body Shop’s new face masks when I visited one of their stores. The one I was most excited to try was Himalayan charcoal, so I’m very happy that I got that one!

IMG_6136The Body Shop – Himalayan charcoal & Ethiopian honey

IMG_6150The Body Shop – Himalayan charcoal

Himalayan charcoal is a purifying glow mask that’s 100% vegan. It is a tingling clay mask that is infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. The mask is supposed to draw out impurities and refine the appearance of pores and give glow to the skin. It is ideal for the T-zone, since it absorbs excess oil.

I feels purifying and it sure tingles once you put it on the skin, so I’m guessing it’s not for those with sensitive skin. It takes about 5 – 10 minutes for the mask to dry, and it dries solid but it’s still easy to rinse off. Afterwards my pores look smaller and the skin has a nice glow. I’d like to use this mask again, so I think I have to buy it!

img_6173The Body Shop – Ethiopian honey

Ethiopian honey is a deep nourishing mask that is 100% vegetarian. It is an indulgent melting face mask that consists of Community Trade honey, marula and olive oils. The mask replenishes, restores and comforts skin and makes it feel softer and smoother.

The mask smells and looks like honey and it is very cosy on the skin. The scent makes it calming and relaxing and I would like to try it in the bath, to get even more relaxed. It is a bit sticky so it doesn’t rinse off that quickly. Afterwards the skin feels soft and moisturized.

My favorite of the two masks is Himalayan charcoal, I love tingling feel and how my pores tightened from using it! I think I have to go back to The Body Shop and get it in full size.
