OPI Neon 2016: TRŪNEON

OPI is releasing a new neon collection called TRŪNEON this summer! Their last neon collection was released in 2014 and consisted of six polishes and a white base coat called Put a coat on! It looks like Put a coat on! will be back for this collection.dda24

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the summer weather starts to arrive I tend to go for bright neon polishes on my nails. This past week the weather in Sweden has been amazing (sunshine and 25ºC) and I have already worn two of the polishes from the last neon collection (Down to the core-al and Hotter than you pink) so I’m a bit curious for swatches of this new collection.

And imagine doing a water marble with these new polishes! 😍

OPI I am what I amethyst vs Essie Virgin snow

It’s time for another comparison swatch! This time I’m showing you OPI’s I am what I amethyst, from this years Soft shades collection, and Essie’s Virgin snow, from last years winter collection.

Here you see two coats of each polish on my nails. Both polishes are pretty similar in the formula.

On it’s own I am what I amethyst looks purple, but compared to Virgin snow it looks more blue. Pretty similar polishes, but not dupes as you see in the pictures.

Which one do you prefer?

Cherry blossoms

I love this time of year so much, especially when the cherry blossoms start to bloom. So I just had to make some nails to match the season! 🌸

The base is It’s a boy! from this year’s soft shades collection. I used How great is your Dane? for the branches, Mod about you and Shorts story to paint the flowers and You are so outta lime! for the leaves.

Of course I had to get a picture with my nails and a cherry blossom tree!

Throwback Thursday: Essie Flowerista

It was a long time since I did a throwback Thursday post, shame on me!

Today I’m throwing it back to last spring and Flowerista from Essie’s spring collection with the same name. I immediately fell in love with Flowerista when it was released, but I have to admit that I haven’t worn it that much since…

What you see here is two easily applied coats of this beautiful shade.

Holy Grail: Cuticle oil

A very important step in getting beautiful and healthy nails is to use cuticle oil! I know that some may think that a cuticle oil is a bit expensive, but it’s really not because it will last for a very long time. I use mine several times during the day and it lasts for months. Since I’ve started to use cuticle oil regularly I’ve seen a big difference with my nails.

Last spring my nails were short and kept breaking and peeling. I tried a few different nail strengtheners with mixed results. I also started to use cuticle oil much more than before and that made my nails (and cuticles) really happy. You have to be patient though, because it takes time before you see a difference!

My favorite cuticle oil is Avoplex from OPI. I have one bottle at home, one on my desk at work and in my bag I have an Avoplex cuticle oil to go. I like the smell of the oil and how it feels on my cuticles, I doesn’t leave me greasy but it still moisturizes.

Which is your favorite cuticle oil?

OPI I’m gown for anything vs Essie Go Ginza

Today I’m gonna show you a comparison between I’m gown for anything from OPI and Go Ginza from Essie.

Comparing the two bottles next to each other they pretty much look like dupes. But are they?

img_9635

On my nails you see two coats of each polish. Formula wise Go Ginza is a bit thinner than I’m gown for anything. You could get away with just one coat of I’m gown for anything, but with Go Ginza you’ll need two coats.

I’m gown for anything is a bit more lilac and Go Ginza is a bit more pink. In my opinion they are not dupes, but they are very very similar. So you probably won’t need both. 😉
